FAQ

Honest answers to common questions

We aim to be clear and responsible about what PurePath is, how it works, and where it fits alongside your other care.

The basics

What is neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, training-based approach. The brain receives real-time feedback about its own activity, which can help it practice more balanced, regulated patterns over time. Think of it like coaching the brain through repetition rather than treating it.

What is a brain map?

A brain map (often based on a QEEG) measures patterns of electrical activity across the brain. It helps us identify areas of dysregulation that may be connected to what you're experiencing, and it forms the foundation for a personalized plan.

How many sessions are usually needed?

It varies by individual and goals. Many approaches involve a series of sessions over several weeks. We'll talk through realistic expectations for your situation during your consultation, and we review progress along the way.

Is it uncomfortable?

Sessions are calm, comfortable, and non-invasive. Most people find them relaxing.

Scope & responsibility

Is this a replacement for medical or mental health care?

No. PurePath is designed to support regulation, not replace medical care. We encourage you to continue working with your physician, counselor, or healthcare provider as appropriate.

Do you diagnose conditions or promise cures?

No. PurePath does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, and we don't promise specific outcomes. Neurofeedback is a training-based approach intended to support self-regulation. We use careful, honest language because that's a truthful description of how this work functions.

Should I stop my current treatment or medication?

Never make changes to medication or treatment on your own. Any such decisions should be made with your prescribing physician or healthcare provider. PurePath is intended to work alongside — not in place of — your existing care.

What if I'm in crisis?
